Angsana Laguna Phuket Resort, ThalangExtracts from Tripadvisor guest comments – Angsana Laguna Phuket Resort & Spa

We have stayed at the resort some years ago, but in recent years decided to stay elsewhere because the resort was suffering from age, but, great news, this grand resort has been refurbished and is now an Angsana (Banyan Tree Resort group)………..
Our children, three in all, found the new kids club on the first day and it is totally new with a lot of new climbing and games equipment, but the best by far was that they could take an art class conducted by a professional artist. They could take their painting home and they learnt a lot from this activity; the staff were excellent both David (the manager of the kids club) and Chris Hogan (the artist) and they managed to keep our kids entertained and happy. We will be back next school holiday just so our kids can enjoy their kids club again.
Enjoyed it very much.
- Stayed January 2012, traveled with family

The hotel is stunning, immaculately kept. Rooms are excellent – we travelled with our 2 children so had interconnecting rooms – we had a kingsize bed in our room and the children had a small double each.
Breakfast is excellent – everything you could wish to eat.
There are simply loads of excellent restaurants to visit at night, our favourites were Silk, Supper Club, Baan Rim Pa, Lotus, Cudos…………The beach is fabulous but we chose to sit by the pool so the children could frequent the kids club.
The kids club was AMAZING. Angsana flew in Christopher Hogan – an amazing artist – over the festive period to give the children a 2 hour painting class each morning. I could not keep my 7 year old away…. I hence have a mini gallery of art work in the suitcase! Chris was an inspirational teacher and a bit of a pied piper in the hotel – my kids loved him! Will definitely be purchasing a heap of canvases and acrylic paint when home!
A fabulous family holiday, something for everyone, relaxed sophisticated laid back luxury.
Will absolutely be returning!

Stunning results from my art classes for young guests at the resort
My residency is in it’s final week, some excellent young artists have come through the doors of the newly opened Angsana Laguna Phuket Treehouse Kid’s Club. Their enthusiasm has been amazing and some stunning results from young guests that have attended my art classes here at the resort.
Phuket News – Christopher Hogan’s Mural
The ‘yet to be named’ 7 metre wall mural is nearly completion.
Another good article on my wall mural project commissioned by Angsana Laguna Phuket.
The mural is nearly finished, today’s class will see the majority of the mural painted with the Executive Chef Murko from GM Jerry John’s A-Team at Angsana Laguna Phuket, due to paint the very last tile, N0#350.
In the new Angsana Laguna Phuket resort they have built the most amazing kids zone, it is called the ‘Treehouse’ Kids Club and within that area they have built a special area to use for art based activities. I had the pleasure of curating the display wall, in what I have affectionately called the ‘ArtSpace’.
I have to thank Jerry John, the resort’s General Manager for allowing me to put up on permanent display some of the best art works completed by the first of the children to use this amazing kid’s club. These artworks were completed by young guests of the resorts over the last few weeks of my artist in residency here at Angsana Laguna Phuket and I am justifiably proud of the result. Each painting was donated by the young artists, so a big ‘Thank You’ to all of these children, they leave a marvellous example of what a little paint and a lot of talent can do….this wonderful resort now has another first, it’s own ArtSpace by the children and for the children!
The story of how Pegasus found it’s way….
When I asked this young Russian guest if she would be interested in donating her painting to the new ArtSpace, she declined! She told me that she would do another painting for me to hang, but that she loved this one, so was keeping it. Her mother commented that they had recently been to Greece where she had been carved images of winged horses….the Greek god Pegasus and it had made a big impression on her child, so she wanted to paint what she saw in her imagination and it was a delightful result. The next day she turned up at the art class and did another ‘Pegasus’ which she declared was her favourite and that I could have the one she painted yesterday. I am glad that she decided to give this wonderful little colourful painting to be part of the exhibition, it sits quite nicely amongst the ‘Fishes’.

Phuket News – Angsana mural coming along
PHUKET: The Angsana Laguna Phuket Resort is two thirds of the way to completing a giant mural to raise funds for talented Thai youngsters in schools and universities.

Australian artist Christopher Hogan, left, is organising the mural project to help raise funds for Thai students.
|
Organised by Australian artist Christopher Hogan, the mural will consist of 350 tiles painted by anyone who cares to pay the B1,000 to be part of the project. So far 209 tiles have been bought and painted.
The mural, inspired by the gardens around the resort and Thailand’s rain forest, was designed by Mr Hogan and is in purple hues, purple being the Angsana’s brand colour.
Tiles will remain on sale until January 25. Those wanting to join in should go to the Angsana any day between 5.30 and 6.30pm every day. For more information call 076-324101.
